Our Beautiful Redhead

A scrapbook page using a picture of my mom that my daddy carried in his wallet for years. The picture was taken in the 1960's so that speaks volumes of the love shared between mom and dad.

Thank you acknowledgement to jaelop designs for her kit "Thank You Mom".

This Is My Breath

Wow... it's been over 3 years since I've blogged...hard to believe but you know what they say..."Time flies when you're having fun". Time also flies when you are simply busy with life happening.  Grandchildren grow up, get married, present you with great-grandchildren, you grow older, deal with health issues both your own and your spouse's and sometimes you just have to slow down and take a breath. This is my breath.

Several years ago my scrapping sisters and I decided we should give blogging a try. We discovered we loved it and kept it up at a steady pace for several years.  Then, we found ourselves slowing down. Life happens and it sometimes requires your full attention so blogging was put on hold for most of us. We discovered Facebook as a means of keeping in communication. It's a great way to keep in touch with family and friends and doesn't require a lot of time. You log in, check your news feed, see what's happening, like some posts, make some comments and log out. Viola', or as we say here in the south, Ta-Da!

While I still am active on Facebook, I don't necessarily want to blow up my friend's news feeds with all my scrapping, pics or just my thoughts. I missed my blogging where I could more or less "journal" my thoughts and pics. I guess you could say it's my own form of therapy. I probably won't blog every day, maybe not even once a week, but then again, who knows.

I've decided I want this to be my first scrapbook post for my blog return. The picture was from 1967, my sister, our mom and me. It used to be a running joke that we were called "the blonde, the brunette and the redhead. Time has not been kind to the picture but I cleaned it up as best I could. I added the text at the top of the page as a way of finding humor in the "big hair" of the late 1960's.  When I sent it to my sister, she replied "Don't let the story end, Sissy...you are too good at telling our story." So, for my little sister, I make this my blog return scrap:

Elements added are from kimeric creations.

Happy Fall Y'all !

After seeing the way Miss Boots so beautifully decorated the veranda, I thought I should make good use of it and do some blogging. LOL.  This is a picture of Gage taken last weekend at Tweetsie amusement park in Blowing Rock, NC. I bet our good friend, Mat remembers hearing about Tweetsie...it was a train that used to run from NC all the way to Johnson City, TN. way back when! It was long before mine and Mat's time, but now that the train no longer runs, they made an amusement park for it. Kind of like Dollywood only on a much smaller scale. Can you see how this child has grown since my last posting? So hard to believe that he will be 5 next spring. He no longer spends every day with Pap and me, he is a 'big boy' now and goes to day care so that there will be other children he can play with and get used to the kindergarten routine.

I do hope all is well with my blog sisters. I think since Facebook came along we update each other more frequently on there than on our blogs. Just have to get Miss G into the Facebook age and we will be all set. Maybe if we tell her toddies will be served on FB she will decide to give it a try. LOL.

Things here are somewhat the same...Rhett, thankfully has not been ill this summer and we went to get flu shots last week so hopefully we can keep him well this winter. I, on the other hand, have been having thyroid problems which has caused me to gain a considerable amount of weight, which I hate but nothing can be done about it. I'm on Synthroid but it does not help with the weight problem. Oh the benefits of being old!

Ok...with thanks again to Miss Boots for both the decorations and the qp, I will sign off now and get ready to watch the new season premier of one of my favorite shows...Nashville!
Since it's chilly out tonight, I have left toddies for y'all.
Love and hugs,
Miss Scarlett

Oh My....

I haven't blogged since Feb.!! You're kidding, right?!?!?!? I suppose I can blame it all on that FB thing. That and the fact that I have started so many scrap pages lately only to get frustrated and delete them because I can't seem to get creative any more... It's not that I don't have the inspiration or enough pics to scrap...I just can't seem to make myself happy with anything I try to create. I never thought of myself as really artistic but I look at other peoples scrap pages and think "why can't I do that?".  So I do a page every once in a while and post it on FB and that's as far as it gets.

I do so enjoy the QP's made by Miss Boots and Mat and I try to take inspiration from them, but I'm just a big flop! Kyra has some awesome kits as well as some other favorites of mine but I can't seem to do anything that meets my own standards. I'm still using PSE5 and wondering if I should upgrade.

Well, I'm sure y'all have heard enough of my complaining so here is the latest little thing I did. Going through Gage's pics and comparing them...can't believe how grown up he looks compared to pics from just a couple of years ago...he's only 4 you know, lol.

Kit is from our talented friend, Kyra.

Love and hugs to all,
Miss Scarlett
ps: I do have juleps on the veranda if y'all want to come by. :)

Finally...Enough Snow for a Snowman

So...we have been waiting all winter for enough snow to make a decent snowman. All we have had so far has been less than an inch...we had to go almost all the way through the alphabet to get to "winter storm Paz" before we ended up with 7 or 9 inches, depending on where you live. We live in the city so we only have 7 inches. Gage lives about 3 miles away and they have 9 inches.

I honestly don't remember snow having names when I was growing up...it was simply 'winter'. lol.
Although we are happy to be playing in the snow, I feel really bad for the folks who got ice and have been without power for days. We have 'been there, done that' and it is certainly not fun.

I have more Gage pics but wanted to get this one done so I could use Linda's really cute snowman qp. Thank you, my friend for sharing your talent with us.
Hugs to all,
Miss Scarlett

Faye's Girls

I've had this page just hanging out in my external hard drive for a while...just because it means a lot to me but unfortunately not to anyone else. But I posted a similar page that I did of Rhett with his siblings and printed and framed it, so I thought it would be neat to make a similar page for me and my sisters and print it out to frame beside Rhett's page. Mom didn't have any sons..just us three girls. I'm the oldest, Joni (sitting) is in the middle and  Betty (on the left) is the baby. It's such a long story with us girls...I've always been the one who tried to keep us close, even though we live many miles apart, but I get very little cooperation from the other two. They aren't close to each other either...sad but true...anyway, it made me feel good to make this page so I did!!! Dang it, I'm so tired of being ignored. Obviously, as you can tell by looking at me, this was taken a few years ago (like close to 20 yrs.) and it was the last time all three of us were together at Mom and Dad's. Matter of fact, it was the last time all three of us were together period!! Anyway...don't mean to ramble on...just a page I made for me.

MOMS

Made these two pages to hang in my office. Gary and his Mom, I did on a QP by Random Thoughts by Linda...the one of me and my Mom, I did on a QP freebie I found on digiscrappers.

Thank you, Linda and other designers for sharing your beautiful work for those of us who are not so talented...:)
